I belong to the 1% of the population that has never seen a single episode of game of thrones. Despite this, I feel like I know the names of some of the characters (Jon Snow, Arya (a beautiful Persian name), Daenerys), who one is portrayed by (Kit Harington) and the basic theme of medievalism and battle between good and evil (this has its roots in Iranian religion Zoroastrianism). The reason I am so clued up is because of the media, and last week I learnt that Kit Harington (who plays Jon Snow) dramatically shaved off his signature beard in favour of a clean-shaven appearance, unveiling his crime on Saturday Night Live...

Twitter went into meltdown as GOT fans from around the world tweeted their anguish at seeing their favourite Prince looking like George Costanza. Harpers Bazaar US have kindly rounded them up and here are a few of my favourites...
I prefer him with beard but change is good and what with Game of Thrones coming to an end and summer unofficially here (read my post SPRING WHO?), he no longer feels the need to look like someone from the 15th century and is probably all hot under that fur muff. Give the guy some air! It makes him look younger and is excellent PR for the finale. Kit was one step ahead of the savagery by seeing the funny side of his makeover, describing it as a 'prepubescent Jon Snow' in a monologue on SNL:
Don't worry, this is all real life. He is still very much with beard in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which has hit HBO and Sky Atlantic now. If you don't have access to either, there are ways around it in the form of trials, but be sure to cancel in the given time otherwise you will be charged. If you are like me and have never seen a single episode, I suggest watching it from the beginning (like I intend to do one day) otherwise you will probably 'know nothing' much like Jon Snow...
