The annual Met Gala, fashion's biggest fundraising event, took place last night at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise funds for the gallery's Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition: Camp: Notes On Fashion. Everyone who is everyone in the world of style and show business was there including Kim Kardashian, dripping (quite literally) in Thierry Mugler's Wet Dress, Lady Gaga who had not one but four outfit changes, and rapper Cardi B who made a dramatic appearance in a gigantic maroon creation complete with over the top train...
This year's theme was all things 'camp' undoubtedly celebrating drag queens and gender fluidity, a perfect fit for the current climate of LGBQT+ rights. One Direction star Harry Styles encapsulated the subject perfectly in a Shakespearian style sheer lace Gucci number complete with pussy bow, heels, nail polish and an earring:

YouTube sensation James Charles, one of the first ever Influencers to be invited to the exclusive event, faced backlash and negative comments on Instagram due to his invite and Alexander Wang ensemble. His caption also ruffled a few feathers. Thankfully some of his 'sisters' came to his rescue...

Anna Wintour, Vogue supremo and chairwoman of the soirée since 1995, gave a nod to the late Karl Lagerfeld in a feathered Chanel cape reminiscent of the 1920's over a dazzling pink floor length gown. Of 2019's Met Gala theme, the editor-in-chief believes it to be about 'self expression' and 'individuality', noting that she wanted to see 'outrageous, fun, tongue in cheek' fashion on the red carpet. Her invite-only A-list attendees certainly didn't disappoint...
