2019 ELECTION
On 12th December 2019, the United Kingdom will vote in a general election, the first in two and a half years, for who they want to run their constituency and island. In the running are current Prime Minister and Brexiteer Boris Johnson, Democratic Socialist and Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn and staunch Remainer and Liberal Democrats Chief Jo Swinson. Other major parties vying for seats are the SNP, DUP, The Brexit Party and Greens who have gathered much momentum over the years due to a surge in environmental issues...
After failing to fast-track his Withdrawal Agreement by 31st October, and three previous blocked attempts by Labour for a vote, the former MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip finally got his wish and called an early election on 6th November in a long and dramatic speech on the steps of Downing Street to end what he called a 'paralysed Parliament' and 'get Brexit done'...

What is also worrying is the fact that the former backbencher has made past appearances on Press TV, the Iranian state-run channel...
That is not to say the Conservative is correct. His 'letter box' jibe to describe women in burqas, his slip of the tongue regarding British-Iranian Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and his reckless 'do or die' approach to Brexit has shed him in some seriously bad light. Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson has managed to stay relatively out of any controversy. The 39 year old MP for East Dunbartonshire is the first female and youngest ever to be elected...
The candidates are each making various pledges to the people. For example, Johnson wants to end the EU gridlock and provide more policing, Corbyn wants to scrap university tuition fees and publicise the railways and Swinson wants to 'stop Brexit' and tackle the climate emergency. Their campaigns have officially kick-started with party broadcasts being aired and local MPs doing the rounds. The first election debate took place on ITV last week followed by the BBC last night. There will be another discussion on ITV on the 1st December and then a head-to-head Prime Ministerial Debate on the 6th. ES Magazine has offered a 5-page Election Digest with a hilarious Get The 'Classic Dom' Cummings Look to get you in the manifesto mood..
A current YouGov poll shows the Tories with a nine point lead and the Reds not faring badly. If you want to have your say on who the next Prime Minister is, you can find out more about the parties, who is running in your area and what they are all offering here. I have recently started watching interviews with the great and late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead. I personally think that the legendary frontman and bassist should be the next Prime Minister. What a wonderful world that would be...
